Pulmonary Rehab Program celebrates its one year

Gilroy, CA (April 12, 2010) – Saint Louise Regional Hospital Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is celebrating its one year anniversary on Wednesday, April 28.

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program, which officially opened a year ago, helps people with lung disease improve their quality of life through exercise conditioning and education. The multidisciplinary program allows people to safely exercise by individually tailoring each exercise program and educating the patient with lung disease on breathing and wellness techniques.

“Our mission to serve our communities should not end with the hospital visit,” said Joanne E. Allen, President and Chief Executive Officer. “It is the goal of this program to provide our communities with the resources they need to live a better life. Education is key, and our highly-qualified professionals and associates can provide just that to our communities.”

Each exercise program is closely monitor by a Respiratory Care Practitioner and uses state-of-the art equipment and techniques to enhance the quality of life of each participant.  Each participant is seen by a variety of health care professionals including a Pulmonologist, Physical Therapist, Registered Dietician, Pharmacist and Stress Management Professional with a goal and mission of stabilizing the pulmonary disease and achieving optimal conditioning of the participant in order to live a full life.

This program is covered by Medicare and most insurance companies.

Past and present program participants will be attending the celebration. Lunch will be provided by Dr. George Green, M.D. Free pulmonary screening will be provided for patients.
